The Vale do Sousa Region excels in the beauty of its mountains, mountains and fields, where fresh air is felt through landscapes with very special geological features.
This region is formed by the municipalities of Castelo de Paiva, Paços de Ferreira, Paredes, Penafiel and Lousada. With the exception of Castelo de Paiva municipality, this whole region is located in the district of Porto.
The manufacturing industry employs a large part of the population, predominantly footwear, felgueiras, textile in Lousada, wood and furniture in Paços de Ferreira and Paredes, and granite exploration in Penafiel.

Vale do Sousa has always played a leading role in the occupation and territorial organization, being located in the heart of a triangle classified by UNESCO as World Heritage, consisting of Porto, Guimarães and the Douro Valley.
